Some Chassis Selections by Teams for this race
Chassis selections for Watkins Glen: see the list of many teams and what chassis were selected by the team to run at Watkins Glen International for the Sprint Cup Series Race:
#1-Jamie McMurray: The #1 McDonald's Chevy team has elected to bring chassis number #1012 to Watkins Glen International this weekend. This chassis was most recently run at Infineon in June when McMurray drove to a 15th-place finish. This car also ran at both road course races in 2010, coming home 15th at Infineon and sixth at Watkins Glen.
#2-Brad Keselowski: The #2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team will race chassis PRS-741 during Sunday's Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen at Watkins Glen International. This is a brand-new chassis to the #2 fleet.
#5-Mark Martin: Crew chief Lance McGrew has chosen Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-674 for Sunday's race at Watkins Glen. This is the same chassis that Martin raced at Infineon in June. The team also tested chassis 5-674 at Road Atlanta last month.
#6-David Ragan: Primary: RK-762 Brand new chassis; Backup: RK-773 Last ran Sonoma - finished 29th
#9-Marcos Ambrose: The #9 RPM team has prepared chassis No. 761 for the 220.5-mile event at Watkins Glen International. This Stanley Ford Fusion has been run previously this season at Infineon Raceway.
#14-Tony Stewart: Chassis No. 14-660: This car made its debut in June at the Toyota/Save Mart 350k at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Prior to its first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start, Chassis No. 14-660 was tested on May 16 at Virginia International Raceway in Alton. The testing paid off, as Stewart drove the car from his 20th-place starting spot to lead three laps. He seemed destined for at least a second-place finish, as race-winner Kurt Busch was strong throughout the 110-lap race, but a dust-up with Brian Vickers with less than 25 laps remaining left Stewart upended on a stack of tires in turn 11. The damage was extensive enough that Stewart could not finish the race, and he recorded his first-ever DNF in 25 career road-course starts. Fully rebuilt, Chassis No. 14-660 returns to action this weekend at Watkins Glen for the second and final road-course race of the season.
#17-Matt Kenseth: Primary: RK-771 (Brand new chassis)
#18-Kyle Busch: Chassis No. 305: This chassis will make its second-ever start in the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen Sunday afternoon at Watkins Glen International. No. 305 made its first start during the first road-course event of 2011 in the June Toyota Save/Mart 350k at Infineon Raceway. Busch started 19th and brought home solid 11th-place finish.
#20-Joey Logano: Crew Chief Greg Zipadelli and the #20 Home Depot Team are taking chassis #306 to Watkins Glen this weekend. Logano drove this chassis for the first time at Infineon Raceway in June. He started from the pole and earned his first top 10 at a road course in his three-year Sprint Cup career. The back-up chassis is #234 that Logano drove at Watkins Glen and Sonoma last season.
#22-Kurt Busch: and his Steve Addington-led "Double-Deuce" crew will be racing their "PRS-742" Charger this weekend at Watkins Glen International. This is the same car that Busch, Addington and crew debuted in spectacular fashion in the June 26 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway. Busch started 11th in that race, but quickly moved to the front. After clearing Denny Hamlin for the lead on Lap 13, he went on to lead four times for 76 laps en route to a dominant 2.685-second victory over runner-up Jeff Gordon.
#27-Paul Menard: will pilot Chassis No. 361 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This #27 Chevy is a brand new addition to the RCR fleet for the 2011 season and will make its first paces this weekend at Watkins Glen International.
#29-Kevin Harvick: will race chassis No. 321 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. The #29 team utilized this car in last season's event at The Glen where Harvick scored an 11th-place finish.
#31-Jeff Burton: will race chassis No. 245 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. Built new in 2009 as a #07 racer, this machine was put through two short track tests and then shelved before being converted to a road course #31 racer. It was put through its first competition at Infineon Raceway in June 2010 where the South Boston, Va., native finished 27th before rebounding at Watkins Glen International a couple of months later when No. 31 team took home a ninth-place finish. Earlier this season, Burton piloted this Caterpillar Chevy to a 21st-place result at Infineon Raceway in June.
#33-Clint Bowyer: will pilot chassis No. 300 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This Chevy, built in 2010 specifically for road course racing, has seen action three times - the first being a 31st-place finish last season at Infineon Raceway and also last August at Watkins Glen International when Bowyer brought home a 32nd-place effort. Most recently, Bowyer drove this racer to a fourth-place finish earlier this year after starting ninth at Infineon Raceway in June.
#36-Ron Fellows: will get behind the wheel of the No. 65 TBR chassis. Dave Blaney drove the chassis this season at Infineon Raceway. He started 36th and drove up to 11th before on-track contact relegated the team to a 31st-place finish.
#42-Juan Pablo Montoya: The #42 Target team will bring Chassis #1014 to Watkins Glen International for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen. Montoya used this chassis back at Infineon in June where he was running up front until an on-track incident caused him to finish 22nd. The Target team also ran this car in both road course races last season when Montoya went to Victory Lane for the first time at Watkins Glen International in August, and drove it to a 10th-place finish at Infineon.
#43-A.J. Allmendinger: The #43 RPM team has prepared chassis No. 760 for this weekend's event at Watkins Glen International. This Best Buy Ford Fusion has been run previously this season at Infineon (Sonoma, Calif.) Raceway.
#48-Jimmie Johnson: will pilot chassis No. 543 in Sunday's event. He last drove that car at Infineon Raceway in June. Johnson finished seventh in backup chassis No. 442 at Watkins Glen in 2008.
#88-Dale Earnhardt, Jr.: This weekend, crew chief Steve Letarte and the #88 team will unload Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 88-601. Earnhardt last ran this car at Infineon Raceway in June, when he finished 41st after being collected in an early, multi-car incident. His No. 88 Chevy sustained radiator damage and ultimately lost engine power as a result.
#99-Carl Edwards: RK-758 - Most recently ran at Sonoma in June, finished third.
